Once Aamir Khan came to college wearing shorts-slippers during rain. We were all shocked to see him like this. I asked him why he was dressed like that, and he said, ‘Every day we get wet in the rain, so I decided to come in shorts today.’ The entire college was shocked. When the teacher came to the class, he asked Amir, ‘What are you wearing?’ Amir explained that he chose this outfit because of the rain and later he asked Amir to leave the class. After that, Aamir quit college for good and started assisting Mansoor Ali Khan and later did films and rose to greater heights. Although education is important, sometimes, a person leaves education behind to reach his destination quickly.”Aamir, who studied at Narsi Manji College, completed his Class 12 education before deciding to pursue a career in filmmaking. But academics were never his strong area. In an earlier interaction with IANS in 2009, the actor admitted that the school authorities often disciplined him for his lack of interest in studies.“When in school, kneeling in front of the principal’s office was a regular feature. I was also caned a few times. It’s amazing how when you get caned, you don’t feel the pain immediately, but two seconds later the shot goes away badly… It’s terrible. I was more interested in sports and so always forgot to do my homework. Also, bad marks used to create problems for me. I used to abuse a lot.“The actor also spoke candidly about how his passion for theater gradually pulled him away from academics. “My studies were only till 12th standard because after that, I entered films. Even during my 11th and 12th college, I hardly attended classes as I was always busy with drama. Because of this, my college life was not very exciting.
