Unlike a few years ago, home ownership is not limited to the higher budget segments. Customers now have multiple options within the 15 lakh bracket, offering practical driving range, basic features and suitability for daily commuting.From compact city-centric models to larger family-oriented cars, the market offers a range of options to suit different requirements. Let’s take a look at some of the most affordable electric cars currently available in India under Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, ex-BaaS). 1. Tata Tiago The first EV on the list is the Tata Tiago EV, priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in four variants and two battery pack variants – 19.2kW and 24kW. The 24kWh battery variant produces 75bhp and 114Nm, while the 19.2kWh version produces 61bhp and 110Nm. The claimed MIDC range for the larger battery has increased from 293km to 285km, while the smaller battery variant now offers 226km from 223km. According to Tata Motors, the C75’s real-world range is estimated at 205-215 km for the 24 kWh version and 160-170 km for the 19.2 kWh model.2. MG Comet The second EV on the list is the MG Comet EV, priced at Rs 7.6 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Comet EV is offered in five variants: Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive and Exclusive Fast Charge. Talking about the battery and e-motor, it gets a 17.3kWh battery pack mated to a single electric motor that produces 42bhp and 110Nm of torque and sends power to the rear wheels. The battery is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance and has an ARAI-certified range of 230 km.3. Tata Punch HOME Another Tata Motors car on the list is the Tata Punch EV priced from Rs 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV is offered in two battery pack variants: 30 kWh and 40 kWh and is available in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Powered and Empowered+ S. The non-BaaS variants are priced between Rs 9.69 lakh and Rs 12.59 lakh ex-showroom. The larger battery pack has an ARAI-certified range of 468 km on a single charge and a real C75 range of 355 km.4. Citroen eC3The next Citroen eC3 is priced from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroen eC3 is powered by a 29.2kWh battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor that produces 56bhp and 143Nm of torque. The eC3 can travel 320 km on an ARAI-certified charge. 5. Tata Tigor EV Next up is the Tata Tigor EV, priced at Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 75 hp electric motor that produces 170 Nm of torque and a 26 kWh battery. The sedan has an ARAI-certified range of 315 km on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 59 minutes with a DC fast charger.
