Captain of India Harmanpreet Kaur she reached another major career milestone on the opening day of the one-off women’s Test against England at Lord’s, becoming only the third Indian batsman to score 9000 international runs in women’s cricket. The feature came during her composed innings of 58 off 121 deliveries on Friday. Batting at number five, Harmanpreet hit seven boundaries and played a key role in keeping India’s innings going with an 89-run fourth-wicket partnership along with co-captain Smriti Mandhanwho made 83 out of 108 balls. The Punjab batsman needed just 13 runs before the start of the match to reach the milestone. She got there on the fifth ball of India’s 24th over, adding another notable achievement to an already award-winning international career. Harmanpreet is now only the third Indian woman to cross the 9000-run mark in all formats, after former captain Mithali Raj and current vice-captain Mandhana. Mithali ended her illustrious international career in 2022 with 10,868 runs from 333 matches. Mandhana, who is making her 300th international appearance during the Lord’s Test, has already amassed 10,667 views across formats. Harmanpreet, meanwhile, has scored 9045 runs in 374 international matches. Her record includes 4541 runs in 164 ODIs, 4216 runs in 202 T20Is and 288 runs from 12 innings in eight Test matches. The 37-year-old has enjoyed one of the longest and most successful careers in women’s cricket since making her international debut against Pakistan in an ODI at Bowral on March 7, 2009. She is also known as the most capped player in women’s cricket and remains the only cricketer, in both men’s and women’s international cricket, to have played more than 200 T20Is. As captain, Harmanpreet led India to the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title in November 2025, adding a major world trophy to her leadership record. She previously led India to the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, where the team finished as runners-up after losing to Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. More recently, Harmanpreet captained India in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. However, losses to South Africa and Australia in Group A prevented India from reaching the semi-finals, while Australia lifted the title on 5 July.
