Within 24 hours of the post, actress Sudeepa Chatterjee shared a statement on Wednesday Rajesh SharmaPrabhas’ hospitalization due to insect bites on the sets of his upcoming film, was pulled from social media. The move came after the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) pressed for a high-level inquiry into the matter. The actor remains hospitalized and is still out of danger.

What is said about the incident in the statement

According to the now-deleted statement, the incident took place at Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City after the day’s shooting was over. It said that Sharma was conversing with local technicians in a densely vegetated area when he was bitten by an insect, possibly a bug or a venomous spider.

Sharma initially did not seek medical help

According to the statement, Sharma initially did not think the bite was serious enough to require immediate medical attention. After that his condition took a turn for the worse, eventually he was admitted to the hospital.

AICWA has demanded a high-level inquiry

In one of X’s posts, AICWA called him out Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy has ordered a high-level probe into the incident. The workers’ organization also insisted that the film’s producer bear the actor’s medical expenses and pressed for strict legal action if the probe reveals any negligence. AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, in the statement, raised questions about whether proper emergency protocols were in place on the sets and asked why Sharma was not taken to a top hospital in Hyderabad when his condition turned critical during the shoot.

AICWA wants accountability and safety answers

AICWA also called for clarity on several fronts: whether adequate emergency medical facilities were available on location, whether mandatory health and workplace safety rules were followed, and what exactly happened on set that caused the actor’s condition to deteriorate so rapidly. The association added that if investigations reveal any negligence or safety violations, strict legal action should be pursued against those responsible, stressing that no individual or production house, regardless of the film’s scale or budget, is above accountability. It urged the makers to take full responsibility of Sharma’s medical expenses and ensure that he gets the best possible care till he fully recovers.
