playback singer By Vaikom Vijayalakshmi Won the Best Female Playback Singer Award at the 72nd National Film Awards. He was recognized for his rendition of ‘Angu Bhana Konilu’ from ‘ARM’ starring Tovino Thomas. Dhibu Ninan Thomas composed the music, and Manu Manjith penned the lyrics. Soon after the announcement, Vijayalakshmi shared her joy and opened up about her personal connection with the song.“The song that inspired me is the song that won me the National Award. I am extremely happy,” he told Matrubhumi.The singer explained that the lyrics have always encouraged him to overcome life’s challenges and helped him move forward with confidence. He added, “The song ‘Uorannnu Bhaa… Uorannnu Bhaa… break through every barrier… conquer the world and rise…’ always fills me with the strength to move forward. I too have overcome countless hurdles to reach where I am today.”

Vaikam Vijayalakshmi expressed gratitude

After winning her National Award, Vijayalakshmi offered a prayer of gratitude and thanked Vaikathappan, the Adi Parasakthi and the presiding deity of her family, for blessing her with the achievement. The singer described the recognition as a memorable milestone in his musical journey. He also credits composer Dhibu Ninan Thomas for composing the award-winning song.He said, “I love this song. But for me the song on celluloid can’t beat ‘Katte Katte…’, which gave me my first chance in cinema. I also hope to work with Ustad Iliyaraja and AR Rahman someday.”

Mammootty’s win made the moment even more special

Apart from celebrating his own success, Vijayalakshmi also expressed his joy at winning Mammootty Best Actor award at the National Film Awards for ‘Brahamyugam’.He said that the achievements of the two Vaikom artistes made the show more memorable and revealed that he tried to contact the veteran actor after the announcement.Sharing his excitement, he said, “I was elated to know that Mamukka (Mammootty) has also won the National Award for Best Actor. It made me think of the pride of two people getting National honors from VICOM. I tried to call him, but couldn’t. I want to share my joy with him and congratulate him.”Apart from being an accomplished playback singer, she is also known for her rare Gayatri veena playing skills. Throughout his career, he has recorded over 200 songs across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali and Sanskrit. The National Award win brought celebration for the entire ARM team. Director Jithin Lal shared an emotional note on social media.
