Sonam Wangchuk’s party thanked Sonakshi Sinha and Omi Vaidya for supporting her 20-day hunger strike demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Imran Khan and other celebrities including Zeenat Aman and Naseeruddin Shah also expressed support. The CJP’s protest at Jantar Mantar ahead of the Parliament march on July 20 entered its 28th day.

Sincerely, Sonam Wangchuk’s office.” Actor Imran Khan, another vocal supporter of Wangchuck, left a comment on Sonakshi’s post and wrote, “Love this girl. Real gold, really fearless.” Several fans of both Sonakshi and Omi praised the actors for being vocal in their support.

In her video, Sonakshi expressed her concern over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health, saying, “I never made such a statement, but today we cannot ignore her. Sonam Wangchuk. We all know her. We know what she has done for our country, what she has achieved and how many awards she has won. She is hungry. Who is she doing this for? She is not doing anything for the future? Children who lost their lives.” He is fighting a system that is not working properly. I know it. You know it. We all know that. Many are still silent. I can’t keep quiet. Whatever happens, let it happen. But the problem is. I can’t keep quiet.”

Sonakshi questioned the government’s silence

Sonakshi further appealed to the government to initiate a dialogue with Wangchuk, asking, “Why is no one listening? No one cares.” No one is open to dialogue.” Explaining his decision to release a video statement, he said it was time for him to speak out, adding, “I am not anti-national.”

Omi Vaidya draws parallels with her ‘3 Idiots’ character

In an Instagram video, Omi Vaidya, who played Chatur in ‘3 Idiots’, pointed out real-life parallels between Wangchuk and the character Phunsukh Wangdu portrayed by Aamir Khan. He encouraged people to learn more about Wangchuk’s work and the issues driving his protests, while expressing concern about his deteriorating health.

Omi was among the first actors to speak up for Wangchuk, followed by Zeenat Aman, Prakash Raj, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah and others. Sony Razdan and Abhay Deol, who also extended their support to Wangchuk and the CJP protest. On Friday, Aamir also expressed concern over Wangchuk’s growing health, while clarifying that his ‘3 Idiots’ character was not based on him.
