According to Bollywood Hungama, the film is titled ‘Wicked Sunny’. The makers believe that the title does full justice to the film’s zone as well as its lead character. Moreover, ‘Wicked Sunny’ has a strong recall value. This was the name of the theme played during Akshay Kumar’s scene in ‘Mujse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004). Even after 22 years of the film’s release, the theme remains very catchy and popular. ‘Wicked Sunny’ will see Akshay in a wacky comic avatar, different from the characters he has played in recent comic capers like ‘Bhuth Bangla’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. Fans are going to have a blast watching Akshay go all out. Moreover, the title will only add to the hype surrounding the film.
History of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan collaboration
So far, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have joined forces in seven films: ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000), ‘Garam Masala’ (2005), ‘Bhagam Bhaag’ (2006), ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ (2007), ‘De Dana Daan’ (2009), ‘Khatta Mitha Bangla’ (2009), ‘Khatta Mitha’ (2009). Their upcoming film ‘Highwan’ will mark their eighth collaboration, ‘Wicked Sunny’ will be their ninth. ‘Haiwan’, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, will hit the theaters on September 11, 2026.
‘Wicked Sunny’ Writer & Shooting Schedule
According to a recent Mid-Day report, ‘Wicked Sunny’ is a comic thriller written by Priyadarshan alongside Rohan Shankar, the same duo behind ‘Bhuth Bangla’. The report also mentions that filming is expected to begin this December.
