Director Chetan opened up about the message behind his upcoming film The India Story, saying the project aims to encourage viewers to think more carefully about the food they eat every day. According to the filmmaker, the story addresses an issue that directly affects families across the country and hopes to start meaningful conversations. Chetan shared his thoughts while promoting the film in Mumbai with the actress Kajal Aggarwal. He explained that the film aims to create awareness while presenting a compelling narrative rooted in a socially relevant issue.

Speaking to IANS about the motivation behind the project, Chettan stressed that food security is an issue that concerns every household. The film explores why people need to be more aware of what reaches their dinner table, he said. He said, “We work hard to put food on our plate. If you have poison on your plate, your hard work is in vain, and it puts your children and everyone close to them at grave risk. So, in this film, everything is said, what is important, what is there and what should be done. This film is for every family. It is for every Indian.” The director suggests that the film goes beyond entertainment and encourages viewers to reflect on a subject that has wider implications.

Chetan also shared what he hopes the audience will take away after watching the film. According to him, the story presents the seriousness of food-related problems and also offers possible solutions. He added, “So, after watching this film, you have to pay attention to everything, you cannot sleep thinking about the gravity of the situation in society when it comes to our food. You will be shocked. But, the film tells you how you can ensure safety”. The filmmaker believes that the narrative will inspire viewers to become more aware of food quality and the choices they make in their daily lives.
Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpar Directed the film
The India Story stars Shreyas Talpade alongside Kajal Aggarwal, who plays advocate Archana. His character joins forces with an ordinary citizen in a legal battle against a powerful corporate body accused of endangering public health. Blending courtroom drama with an investigative storyline, the film examines issues such as pesticide misuse, food adulteration and their widespread impact on society.‘The India Story’ is gearing up for a theatrical release on July 24, 2026.
