NEW DELHI: England on Friday announced their 16-man squad for the three-match ODI series against India later this month, with uncapped all-rounder James Coles and fast bowler Josh Tongue earning their first call-ups.India and England are currently playing a five-match T20I series before meeting in three ODIs on July 14, 16 and 19 in Birmingham, Cardiff and Lord’s.
James Coles, Josh Tongue earn first ODI calls
The biggest talking point in the England squad is the inclusion of Coles and Tongue, who are yet to make their ODI debuts.The selectors have also included seamers Gus Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood as England prepare to face a strong Indian side.
Jofra Archer returns
Fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been named in the squad and is set to return to ODI cricket for the first time since November 2025.His return will bolster England’s attack ahead of the three-match series.
India will field a strong team
India are expected to field an almost full squad for the ODI series.Former captain Rohit Sharma and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah are set for the feature, whereas Virat KohliParticipation will depend on his fitness.
