Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has added another prestigious international recognition to his remarkable journey. Filmed by the visionary director Indian cinema To a global audience, ‘Juliet 2026’ was honored with recognition during a visit to the Institut Lumière in Lyon, France. As part of the event, screenings of his acclaimed films ‘Eega’ and ‘RRR’ were held in front of the audience. The honor became even more special as Rajamouli’s name was permanently added to the Mur des Cinestes (Wall of Filmmakers), dedicated to some of the greatest names in world cinema.

Rajamouli took to social media to share pictures from the memorable event and reflected on the emotional experience. He wrote, “Visited the Lumiere museum and screening room where ‘Iga’ and ‘RRR’ were shown to a full house in Lyon, France. Thierry Fremaux, director of the Institut Lumiere and Cannes Film Festival, was kind enough to introduce me. He then said he had a surprise planned and I walked down the street to where I was. I was already emotional for what was happening around me. And there is this wall full of plaques. Legends like Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Quentin Tarantino, Francis Ford Coppola… and then I noticed a plate covered in red cloth. My mind went blank. I don’t even know what to say about the honor of having my name permanently placed on the Mur des Synestes with the greats. Just gratitude. Deeply, deeply humbled. Thank you, Institut Lumière, for a memory I will carry with me forever.” His heartfelt note quickly won the praise of fans and members of the film fraternity.
Another breakthrough moment for the acclaimed director
The latest honor further enhances Rajamouli’s status as one of India’s greatest directors on the world stage. He directed the blockbuster ‘Eega,’Bahubali,’ ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘RRR’ that redefined the scale of Indian cinema and earned him universal acclaim over the years. During his career, he has also received many prestigious awards such as Padma Shri, many National Film Awards, Saturn Award, New York Film Critics Circle Award, and Critics’ Choice Movie Award. His global fame reached new heights when RRR’s ‘Natu Natu’ became the first song from an Indian film to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
SS Rajamouli is busy with ‘Baranasi’ and ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’
