Bruce Foxton, veteran musician and famous former member of The Jam, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The singer and bassist recently shared the health diagnosis just months away from his 71st birthday.
Bruce Foxton confirmed the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease
The singer addressed online speculation about his health and confirmed his Parkinson’s diagnosis. He also revealed that the disease was due to complications from old cancer treatment, according to his Facebook post.He wrote, “I now face the future of living with Parkinson’s disease … and I am determined to do the best I can. It is taking a long time for this to sink in and to accept that my body and mind are dealing with something completely out of my control.” Since last year, the singer was also dealing with a chest infection, which hampered his performance and as a result he canceled the performance. “The brutal heat and an underlying chest infection really knocked me for six, and the doctor advised me to rest while taking the medication,” she added.“As for his diagnosis and treatment, Bassist notes that “having the right medication to help manage the symptoms has given me another chance to continue doing what I love and living in a comfortable and supportive environment”. He ended the post by assuring fans of this, saying, “I’ll keep playing live for as long as I’m able to.”

According to a Cleveland Clinic report, Parkinson’s disease is “a progressive condition that affects movement. It often begins with tremors, stiffness, or slowness. It occurs when the brain cells that make dopamine stop working over time. There is no cure, but medications and therapies can help manage symptoms to improve daily life.”
