Now, Stebin has addressed the incident and clarified what actually happened.Speaking to Galatta India, Stebin said that there was no awkwardness between her parents and Nupur, adding that her parents were not comfortable facing the camera.“My parents are very normal people. Whenever they see the media, they stay quiet because they think the media is there for me, not for them. They think, ‘This is your profession. People want to see you, not us.’“My parents didn’t know the media was standing there. The moment they saw the flashlight, they just started walking forward. I told them, ‘OK, you go ahead, we’ll come back,'” he recalled of the moment captured in the now-viral clip. Nupur tried to stop them, but they didn’t even realize someone was calling them. They just thought, ‘Media hai, chalo nikalte hai.’Stebin said that her mother deliberately ignored Nupur is far from the truth.“People say Nupur has got a dangerous mother-in-law, but it’s just the opposite. If you meet my parents, you’ll realize they’re the most normal people. Their whole life revolves around their children.”He revealed that his parents had originally planned to spend their retirement in Kerala but changed their plans because their children wanted them to be there.“My parents wanted to retire and settle in Kerala because they loved the plantation and the peaceful life there. But they decided to stay with us because we insisted. Their lives revolved around their children.”
‘Sas-bahu is always on the same team’
Stebin laughed off the online chatter surrounding her family dynamic and said that Nupur shares a warm relationship with her mother.“If Indians want to know how my mother and Nupur’s relationship is, here’s the answer – whenever we play games at home, my mother and Nupur are always in the same team. Me and my father on the other side. That’s the kind of bond they share.”
‘We were friends long before marriage’
Opening up about her relationship with Nupur, Stebin said their romance grew naturally after years of friendship.“I have known Nupur’s family since 2020. During the lockdown, none of us had many friends, so our family spent a lot of time together.”He added that Kriti Sanon Nupur had become like a family long before he got married.“Kriti has always been like a sister and friend to me. I have always shared a great bond with her and their parents. We’ll go out for dinner, travel together and spend time as a family.”Reflecting on their relationship, she said, “Our friendship lasted for many years until it finally turned into marriage. Even today, Nupur and I are best friends.”
Marriage questions and what’s next
Stebbin admits that before her marriage, she was constantly asked when she would settle down.“Earlier everyone used to ask, ‘When are you getting married?’ Now those questions have stopped. It’s good because people can finally talk about my music and career.”The singer also said that he has achieved only “five percent” of what he dreams of achieving.“Out of 100, I feel I have achieved only five. This year I have planned everything very aggressively. I want to release a lot of songs, give people more music, more content, more film songs and more collaborations.”He revealed that he has already lined up several projects, including film tracks.“I recently released ‘Tera Ho Jaun’ featuring Varun Dhawan, and the title track of Salman Khan’s upcoming film Mathrubhoomi is also in my voice. A lot of singles and collaborations are coming. The more hits I have, the more international collaborations I will announce.”
