Did the makers of ‘Ramayana’ intentionally release unfinished VFX? Producer who visited set makes surprising claim: ‘They had better versions of those scenes’

A fresh claim surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ has sparked an online controversy. Content creator Dhruv Parikshit, who recently attended a special creator’s event on the sets of the film, alleged that the makers deliberately released a version of Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama jhalak with incomplete visual effects to create online conversation and publicity.According to him, the strategy aimed to generate buzz through audience discussion and criticism, resulting in what he described as “free marketing”.

The maker shared his interaction with the film’s VFX team

After his visit, Dhruv posted pictures and videos of the event on social media. In response to a follower’s question about the visual effects, he initially said that some of the footage shown during the visit was unfinished. He wrote, “Yes, it was incomplete. But the vision they have, I can’t really put into words. The scenes I saw there were of ‘Avatar’ level. I’m not exaggerating, they are cooking something really nice. The character designs and the world of ‘Ramayana’ feel incredibly immersive.”He also claimed to have spoken to a VFX artist associated with the project, adding, “I also got a chance to speak to one of their VFX artists. He told me that the makers had deliberately uploaded a nerfed version of Ram Jhalak. They had a better version of those scenes, yet why did they deliberately chose to release them incomplete and open discussion across the internet? Why? Marketing.”

The original comment was removed after it went viral

Soon, Dhruv deleted his original comment and replaced it with a clarification. He explained that the visual effects work is progressing well and praised the film’s scale.“VFX Pay Kam Chal Raha Hai, and Kafi Accha Kam Ho Vi Gaya Hai. Hamko kuch incomplete footage ve show di and i believe vo already complete ho chuke hai mahino pahle hai. And bro, character design!! They are fantastic! They are absolutely wonderful. It’s like a very beautiful fantasy world, but in an Indian environment. It’s going to be a great theatrical experience,” he wrote.Despite the clarification, screenshots of his earlier comments quickly spread across social media, fueling speculation about the film’s promotional strategy.

‘Ramayan’ teaser has divided the audience

Earlier this year, the makers unveiled the first glimpse of ‘Ramayana’, introducing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. While many praised the teaser’s scale and cinematic ambition, others criticized parts of the VFX, CGI and presence of certain demonic characters. The production team later assured the audience that the visual effects would continue to be refined before the film’s theatrical release.

Star-studded cast and release plans

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayan’ stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey and Sunny Deol in lead roles. The first installment is slated for a theatrical release before Diwali 2026, while the second installment is expected to hit theaters in 2027.
