Filmmaker SS Rajamouli was honored with a plaque at the prestigious Institut Lumiere in Lyon, France. The director, on Wednesday, was inducted into the institute’s ‘Wall of Filmmakers’ to celebrate his body of work.The director, is best known around the world for his work in internationally acclaimed films like ‘RRR’ and ‘Bahubali‘, was welcomed to the birthplace of cinema for a series of sold-out screenings, autograph sessions and audience interactions featuring some of his most famous films including ‘Iga’. Running from June 27 to July 17, the event celebrates Rajamouli’s contribution to cinema worldwide and showcases several of his landmark films.Videos of the event, which have gone viral on social media, show Rajamouli pulling back a red curtain to unveil a gold plaque bearing his name, marking yet another international honour. The recognition comes after Rajamouli was earlier honored with a plaque by Cinemeth, cementing his place among world-renowned filmmakers.Addressing the audience during a conversation at the institute, Rajamouli reflected on India’s rich storytelling tradition. In a video of the session, he is quoted as saying, “India is a treasure trove of stories. Be it the mythology of India. Mythology is not the right word, but for lack of a better word, I say mythology. We call them ‘Ehsas’. There are also other myths, history and folklore…”In another video, the director received a standing ovation as he entered the packed auditorium before taking part in an extensive question-and-answer session after the screening of his film. The film reportedly has another 80 days of shooting before officially wrapping up the film and starting post-production work for a 2027 release.
