PriyadarshanWho recently parted ways with ‘Hera Pheri 3’, has now revealed the details of his next film Akshay Kumar. The duo has teamed up for the ninth time in a comedy thriller backed by Tips, which will begin shooting before the end of the year.
Priyadarshan’s exit from ‘Hera Pheri 3’
‘Hera Pheri 3’ was initially planned, but the National Award-winning filmmaker recently confirmed that he has opted out of directing it, opening the door to a new project. As per reports in Mid-Day, Priyadarshan has penned the story with a mix of fun and thrills. The film will roll by the end of the year, probably in December. Akshay and he are excited about this project because although he has tried comedy and thriller in the past, he feels it belongs to a genre he has not tried before. He will be producing the screenplay with Rohan Shankar, who also worked on ‘Bhoot Bangla’.
Priyadarshan’s other projects are suspended
Priyadarshan was earlier reported to spend the rest of 2026 on a Pankaj Tripathi dramedy, followed by a Mohanlal film. Those plans have now changed, however, as both projects have been pushed back to next year. According to reports, Mohanlal’s movie was supposed to start in Kerala in October. However, the Pankaj Tripathi-starrer is being reworked along with its screenplay.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was recently seen in ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Feroze A Nadiadwala. The film has an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi. Tushar KapoorShreyas Talpade, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha PataniRaveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Kiku Sharda, Krishna Abhishek, Daler Mehndi, Farida Jalal, Kiran Kumar and others. Released on June 22, the film has been garnering strong reviews from both critics and audiences since its release.
