The future of Hera Ferry 3 seems to have hit another hurdle. film maker Priyadarshan He confirmed that he is no longer attached to the much-awaited sequel, adding that he is unsure if the film will ever make it to the big screen.The development comes as producer Feroze Nadiadwala said in an interview that Priyadarshan is no longer directing the third installment of the beloved comedy franchise.Confirming the news to Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan said, “What Feroze said is true. I am not currently associated with Hera Ferry 3.”

‘Hera Pheri 3 will never hit the screens’

The filmmaker went a step further and expressed doubts about the fate of the project.“As far as I know, Hera Pheri 3 will never hit the screens due to many legal issues and personal conflicts. It doesn’t matter if I’m involved or not,” he told the publication.His statement may disappoint fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic trio and the beloved franchise.

A controversial film

Hera Pheri (2000), directed by Priyadarshan, became a cult classic, while its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), directed by Neeraj Vora, was also a commercial success.However, the third installment has been plagued by multiple hurdles over the years. One of the biggest issues surrounds the legal dispute over Hera Ferry franchise rights. South-based production company Seven Arts International claimed ownership of the franchise and its characters, a claim that Feroze Nadiadwala disputed.Earlier, a spokesman said Akshay KumarIts production house also said that the rights were acquired from Nadiadwala that he owned them.The film was expected to reunite the original cast-Akshay Kumar. Sunil Shetty And Paresh Rawal—Priyadarshan returns as director. The project also suffered a setback when Paresh Rawal walked out of the film in May 2025 before finally coming back on board.Interestingly, Akshay, Sunil and Paresh recently reunited for another film Welcome to the Jungle produced by Feroze Nadiadwala.
