NEW DELHI: Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president Javid Ahmed Kitab has been suspended with immediate effect after the association’s Apex Council passed a unanimous resolution in favor of the move.The decision was finalized on June 25 and approved by an 8-0 majority vote. According to the notification, the resolution was distributed to the qualified members of the Apex Council under Rule 23(i) of the JKCA Constitution. Since it was about the behavior and suspension of the president, the resolution was not sent to Kitab. Instead, it was distributed among the remaining nine members of the Apex Council. Eight members voted for the resolution, while one member did not announce the decision.The notice read: “Accordingly, the Resolution was duly adopted by a majority of 8:0 in terms of Rule 23(i) in conjunction with Rule 48(6) of the JKCA Constitution.”It further stated, “In pursuance of the said resolution, Javid Ahmed Kitab, President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect.”The notification also states that the resolution will have the same force and validity as one passed during a duly convened meeting of the Apex Council. It will be put before the Council at its next session for ratification, as required by the constitution.The JKCA also instructed all officials, employees, affiliated units and other officials of the association to “take all consequential steps to implement the decision in accordance with the Constitution” of the association.
