Uttar Pradesh government proposes separate Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for serving teachers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC) has been directed to create more opportunities for in-service educators to meet the mandatory qualification requirements.The directive was issued at a high-level review meeting on Tuesday to assess preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. The exams will be held on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Admission tickets have been issued.
Separate TET for serving teachers
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that serving teachers should not lose out due to limited opportunities to appear for the Teacher Eligibility Examination.He directed the committee to conduct separate TET for serving teachers so that they get adequate opportunity to ascertain their eligibility. The chief minister said teachers should not face difficulties just because they have less opportunity to appear in the exams.
Nearly 2 million candidates appeared for UPTET
The state government expects 19,94,661 candidates to contest UPTET 2026. Of these, 17,67,180 candidates are from Uttar Pradesh and 2,27,481 candidates are from other states.The highest number of registered candidates are from Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Maud, Moradabad, Agra and Jaunpur.
CM emphasizes transparency, candidate convenience
While reviewing the arrangements, Adityanath directed officials to ensure that the examinations are conducted in a fair, transparent and credible manner.He said no candidate should face inconvenience due to lack of transportation, accommodation, security or basic facilities. Officials have been directed to make appropriate arrangements at railway stations, bus stands and other major transit points, especially for candidates coming from other districts and states.
Please provide basic facilities to the center
The Chief Minister directed all examination centers to ensure provision of drinking water, clean toilets, cool waiting areas, uninterrupted power supply, fire safety measures and emergency medical services.The district administration has also been asked to keep health and disaster management teams on alert in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
Magistrates told to rehearse
Adityanath directed the district magistrate to conduct a thorough rehearsal of the examination arrangements a day before the examination. He also directed that only officers with clean service records should be assigned inspection duties.The chief minister further asked officials to keep a close watch on rumors and misinformation related to the exam on social media to prevent confusion among candidates.
