Samantha Ruth Prabhu is reducing women in cinema
Speaking in an interview about her recent film ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’, Samantha shared, “What drew me to the story was, I wasn’t really trying to make it genre-breaking or make a statement. I saw it as this compelling character with real depth and a lot of scope for entertainment, and I think that’s really rare, especially for women. Also, I think action is not really a spectacle and I think it’s time we stop putting women in movies just for the audience, for a dance or a song or a role, just for the audience.“He added, “I think the audience has changed; they’re more open to new stories and they’re no longer asking whether a hero is male or female. They just want to be entertained; they want to be moved. If a character is written with integrity and the story is relatable, people will accept it and I believe that’s where mainstream cinema is going and I get to be a part of that journey.”
