ENG v NZ, Third Test live: Nathan Smith, Foulkes lead New Zealand bowling
New Zealand’s bowling attack shared the load effectively as England’s innings unraveled on Day 3. Nathan Smith was the man of the match, finishing with figures of 4/91 after making crucial inroads during the innings. Will O’Rourke and Zac Foulkes also played major roles taking three wickets each. Foulkes, who came into Friday’s game as a replacement for Blair Tickner with concussion, made an immediate impact with the wicket of Ben Stokes before later dismissing Harry Brook for 58 by cutting off his off stump. O’Rourke removed Jacob Bethell after it looked like the left-hander would score more. Their combined effort ensured that England could not erase New Zealand’s first innings lead. Instead, the visitors secured an 84-run lead, very similar to the 100-run lead they enjoyed at The Oval before winning that Test by 253 runs.
