The actor suffered six stab wounds, one of which was dangerously close to his spine, sending shockwaves throughout the film industry. Recently opening up about the terrifying experience, Saif spoke about the incident and whether he can find it in his heart to forgive the attacker.
Saif Ali Khan remembers son Jeh being the target of Night Intruder
In a candid conversation with Mojo Story, Saif Ali Khan recalled the terrifying events of that night in chilling detail, describing how the situation unfolded when the intruder targeted his son Zeh. “We all processed differently. It was a crazy thing. This thief broke in the bathroom window, and the next thing we’re lying in bed and this nanny comes in and tells us there’s someone in Jeh’s room with a knife and demanding money. I went into the baby’s room and she was holding the baby, and she cut the baby a little bit, and she cut the maid a little bit. Maybe if I had turned on the lights, and if I had asked him, as long as you know where you are, and as long as you know what you are doing, and I could talk to him. But something grabbed me and I jumped on him, and we had a fist fight. He went crazy with his knife, and there were cuts and blood everywhere. Just then, my maid came and grabbed him around the room.”

Saif also opened up about the moment he truly believed he wouldn’t survive the attack after being stabbed. He gave more thought to the complicated question of whether he could bring himself to forgive the man who had put his life in danger. “I was wearing a white kurta pajama that was covered in blood, and at one point, I was lying on the floor, I thought I might die. At that time, I really wanted to be with Taimur and I asked him if he would take me to the hospital, and he asked me, ‘Are you going to die?’ I told him no and we went to the hospital together. I even wanted to forgive this guy because I think he made a huge mistake, and I think he wasn’t looking for a fight. I’d be happy to forgive him, but the part where he tried to kill me is something I’m finding hard to let go of. It’s a question of haves and have-nots and it’s discrimination that has led to it.”

After the attack, the Mumbai police swung into action and arrested the accused, 30-year-old Bangladeshi national Mohammad Shariful Islam, three days after the incident from Thane.
