Maharashtra TET question paper leaked: Accused plans to sell paper for Rs 15 crore, more arrests likely

The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, scheduled to be held on June 28, was postponed after Bhiwandi police discovered an alleged leak of question papers a day before the exam. Police said the accused planned to sell the leaked documents for around Rs 15 crore.Talking about the case, Superintendent of Police Ashok Dudhe said the police acted based on information received beforehand by an informant.“The accused came to Bhiwandi to sell the question papers. We received prior information about the matter through informants. Before they could sell the question papers, we laid a trap and arrested them. After inspecting the impounded question papers, it was confirmed that they will be used for tomorrow’s examination. “IANS news agency quoted Dude as saying.Deputy Commissioner of Police Pawan Bansod said the police received a secret message that outsiders were bringing TET papers to Bhiwandi before the exam.“We laid a trap… Thereafter, we arrested the three accused and after checking, we found four different question papers. We immediately called senior officials of the education department. After verifying the question papers, we learned that the exam will be held tomorrow,” he said.Bansold said the investigation is still in its early stages. An FIR has been registered and police expect more arrests as the investigation continues. The education ministry and Thane police have launched a joint investigation to identify the masterminds of the leak, find out how exam security was breached and determine whether an insider was involved.MSCE has assured candidates that new exam dates will be announced soon. All updates regarding the rescheduled exams and revision guidelines will be posted on the Board’s official website.
