Cher continues to plead for custody of her son, Elijah Blue Allman

Allman appeared in court via video call on June 25, The Rolling Stone reported. After requesting to represent himself in his case, which Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui refused, he adjourned the hearing until September 1. Allman is currently being held at a psychiatric facility in New Hampshire.“According to the court investigator’s report, Mr. Allman has expressed no intention of returning to California after his release from the New Hampshire hospital,” the judge said in a statement, while also discussing whether he had jurisdiction to rule on the case.He added, “And I understand that he could be held in New Hampshire for up to a year and a half, and then he would be returned to a prison in New Hampshire or a treatment facility in New Hampshire. So under all of these circumstances, it doesn’t seem to me that Mr. Allman would be back in California for quite some time, if the court held.”On the other hand, Cher’s legal counsel, Justin Gold, said that Los Angeles County is the perfect place for the case to take place. He added, “The stated preference for Mr. Allman is when he was incarcerated in a mental institution, and he lacked capacity,” he declared. “The only reason he’s in New Hampshire right now is because he can’t leave. And for him to say now, ‘Oh, I’m not coming back to California,’ just to avoid jurisdiction here, that would be it.” His whole life is here.” The judge has now requested that Gould first file a legal brief on the matter with the court by July 16.
