His deep understanding of the film industry and his thoughtful nature helped them strike a healthy balance. One of the clearest examples of this is his determination not to step on set. “My wife is very receptive and sensitive about these things. It shows in her decision to never meet me on set. Because somewhere in the beginning she admits that Manoj is different and she is not ready to accept this Manoj, where she does not feel accepted or unwanted. There was some comfort in terms of money,” added the actor. He shares how tight things were in his early days, when even the smallest expenditure required careful thought. “Now, it has become easier. However, he is quick to reject the idea that any single film can completely transform the trajectory of an actor’s career. You keep doing good work and build your credibility, and then people start respecting you. To get into any office, you have to prove yourself for a long time. It’s still relevant,” added the actor.
