National testing agency (State Administration of Taxation) on Thursday announced the provisional answer keys for the Re NEET UG 2026 reexamination to be held on June 21. In addition to the answers, the agency also opened an answer challenge window for candidates.According to an announcement issued by the NTA, candidates can challenge the provisional answers online between June 25 and June 28 by paying a processing fee of Rs 200 per question. If the panel accepts the challenge, the fee will be fully refunded.Explaining the decision, NTA said that while scanning of OMR question papers is still in progress, it has started the answer challenge process while issuing provisional answer keys.“This has been done deliberately for the sake of transparency so that each candidate has an early and public opportunity to review the provisional answers from all four groups and flag any issues they feel warrant revisiting,” the agency said.The NTA said that by having expert review of the challenge begin alongside the OMR scan, rather than waiting for the scanning process to be completed, it aims to release the final answer and announce the results as early as possible.Candidates are also advised to only ask questions based on their own paper series code, which is printed on the cover of the paper they take home after the exam. The NTA said that if challenged, the correction would be applied uniformly to all candidates in all four sets of question papers.After the challenge window closes, all objections will be reviewed by subject experts. If the challenge is found to be correct, the provisional answers will be revised and the final answers will be used to evaluate the answers and prepare the results.“The answers finalized after the challenge will be deemed final. No challenge/appeal regarding the answers will be entertained after the challenge window closes/results are declared,” the notification said.

How to Challenge NEET UG 2026 Provisional Answer Key

Candidates who wish to challenge provisional answers can follow these steps: Step one: Visit the official website nit website and log in using your credentials. Step 2: Enter the test series code printed on the cover of the test paper you take home after the exam. Step 3: Choose the questions you want to challenge from your own question paper series. Step 4: Upload supporting documents or reference materials for each challenge. NTA said candidates can use standard textbooks, NCERT books and other reputed academic publications as evidence. Step 5: Review all challenges carefully before submitting. NTA has stated that no additions or modifications will be allowed after final submission. Step 6: Pay the processing fee of Rs. 200 per question through debit card, credit card or net banking. Step 7: Submit the challenge and save the confirmation and transaction details for future reference. The NTA said the challenge window will remain open until June 28, 2026 at 11:50 pm. If the challenge is accepted by the panel, the Rs 200 fee for the issue will be fully refunded.
