Cricket Ireland has confirmed that both T20Is against India will start at 13:30 local time (18:00 IST), an hour earlier than the usual start time of India’s evening T20 internationals. The decision was taken to minimize a scheduling conflict with India’s crucial T20 World Cup clash against Australia on June 28.
Women’s World Cup match affecting scheduling decision
India Women, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, take on Australia in a high-stakes Women’s World T20 encounter at Lord’s on Sunday. The match is scheduled to start at 19:00 IST, which would have completely overlapped with the second men’s T20I between India and Ireland had the traditional start time been retained. To address the issue, Cricket Ireland has moved the start of both T20Is forward by one hour, ensuring fans can watch much of both matches.
Television companies agreed to revise the time
According to Cricbuzz, Cricket Ireland, organizers of the games, scheduled for Friday (June 26) and Sunday (June 28), have reportedly held discussions with Indian media partner Sony Sports about the matter. In an ideal scenario, the broadcaster would have preferred a 19:00 IST kick-off for India’s T20Is, but Sony Sports is believed to have agreed to a revised time to reduce the conflict, even if only partially.
