film maker Siddharth P Malhotra revealed that the script for the much-anticipated Meena Kumari biopic, reportedly titled ‘Kamal Or Meena’, is now complete, and its premise is unlike anything seen before in an Indian biopic, drawn entirely from personal letters and diary entries left behind by the legendary actor himself.
At the heart of the screenplay is Meena Kumari’s own words
Speaking to Mid-Day, Siddharth P Malhotra revealed that the script has been developed from an extraordinary archive of correspondence between Meena Kumari and her filmmaker-husband Kamal Amrohi. “Fortunately, we have their handwritten love letters and diaries. The screenplay is penned by acclaimed writers Bhavani Iyer and Kausar Munir.
